Environmental Disclaimer – Kirklees Local TV Windrush Veterans Project
Kirklees Local TV is committed to ensuring that the Windrush Veterans Project is delivered with consideration for its environmental impact.
We recognise the importance of sustainable practices and have taken steps to reduce our ecological footprint throughout the duration of this project.
To keep the project as environmentally conscious as possible, we have implemented the following measures:
- Digital-First Approach: Wherever practical, we prioritise digital communication, documentation, and media distribution to minimise paper usage and reduce waste.
- Sustainable Travel: We encourage the use of public transport, car-sharing, and low-emission vehicles for staff and contributors. Remote interviews are also considered where appropriate to reduce travel emissions.
- Energy Efficiency: Filming and production activities are planned to maximise efficiency, including the use of energy-saving equipment and limiting unnecessary power usage on set.
- Waste Reduction: Efforts are made to reduce, reuse, and recycle materials used during production, including set materials, promotional items, and packaging.
- Local Engagement: We aim to work with local suppliers and venues to support the local economy and reduce transportation emissions.
- Continuous Review: Environmental practices are regularly reviewed and improved in line with available resources and emerging best practices.
By embedding these principles into the project, we hope to honour the legacy of the Windrush generation while also respecting and protecting the environment for future generations.
