Welcome to the Windrush Veterans Project
Introduction
Welcome to Kirklees Local Television (KLTV) and the Huddersfield Windrush Veterans Project. We hope you find your volunteering experience rewarding and see it as an opportunity to develop new skills and meet new people.
Founded in 2011 and based in Huddersfield, West Yorkshire, Kirklees Local TV is a video production company passionate about film, business, and people. We provide high-quality bespoke video productions for local and regional businesses. We seek to promote engagement with local and regional businesses, individuals, and communities through our video productions.
KLTV and its partners are embarking on a significant project to create a documentary and educational resource honouring the Windrush Armed Services Veterans in Huddersfield.
The project will uncover and celebrate the invaluable contributions of Windrush first, second and third-generation decorated veterans from the Huddersfield area, whose stories have largely remained untold. The documentary will explore the experiences of these veterans, highlighting their service, sacrifices, and the challenges they faced both during and after their time in the armed forces. A three-hour digital educational workshop designed specifically for schools and colleges will also be developed.
As a volunteer on this project, you will be working in a variety of exciting and engaging roles. This online handbook is designed to give you all the relevant information to assist you in your role.
